On June 30, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project has basically completed the main route.
Site clearance is facing difficulties
According to the representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, the site clearance (GPMB) for this project has now been 100% completed for the main route.
Quang Binh province (old) has handed over the entire area of 33.017km, equivalent to 100% of the required area, while Quang Tri (old) has also completed the handover with 32.534km. However, at some locations such as the service road, site clearance is still a problem.
In Quang Binh (old), the remaining site has not been handed over at 8.5km of service road because the locality has not yet approved the compensation and support plan. In addition, some intersections on the route such as National Highway 9C still have problems with traffic turning points and toll stations.
In Quang Tri (old), although the site clearance work has reached 100% for the main route, there is still 1.48km of service road that has not been handed over due to the compensation and support plan not being approved. Some traffic turning points and toll stations at the intersections of National Highway 9D, DT75 and National Highway 9A also encountered similar problems.
The North-South Expressway Project has been divided into 2 main construction packages, including XL1 and XL2 packages. Both packages are currently under construction on schedule.

The XL1 package, constructed from Km675+400 to Km708+350, has completed a number of important items such as bridges, culverts, underpasses, earth filling, and road surface construction. Similarly, package XL2 is also under construction from Km708+350 to Km740+884 with bridge, culvert, underpass and weak soil treatment items.
"Regarding construction progress, the project is speeding up construction progress to complete the BTN (hot asphalt concrete) and traffic safety (traffic safety) pavement for the main route today (June 30)," said a representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board.
Overpass projects are still facing difficulties due to the failure to hand over the site to the locality on schedule. It is expected that the overpasses will be completed around mid-July 2025.
Difficulties in site clearance for service roads
Regarding problems in site clearance, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that localities need to urgently resolve the problems to ensure the progress of the project.
In particular, Quang Tri (old) needs to urgently approve the compensation and support plan for the remaining 1.48km of service road, as well as solve problems with the location of vehicle turning and toll stations, rest stops.
Quang Binh (old) also needs to speed up the approval of compensation and support plans for 8.5km of service roads that have not been handed over, and at the same time, localities need to complete the handover of land at intersection locations.
"We recommend that the Provincial People's Committee soon direct localities to deploy methods to resolve problems related to site clearance to ensure uninterrupted project progress," said the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board.

In particular, the locality needs to promptly carry out compensation and support for affected households, in order to facilitate further construction.
Although the overall progress of the project is being implemented quite well, if the problems with site clearance are not resolved in time, it can affect the construction progress of the entire project.
The North-South Expressway Project is not only an important traffic project but also a symbol of the development of the North-South region, contributing to promoting the economy, society and improving the quality of life of people in the area.
