On the morning of April 17, the leader of the People's Committee of Kim Bang town (Ha Nam province) said that at around 1:30 a.m. the same day, the forest fire that occurred in Ba Sao ward was basically controlled after many hours of efforts to put out the fire all night by hundreds of people. Authorities continue to closely monitor to prevent the risk of a recurrent fire.
Due to strong winds and dry weather, the fire quickly spread to many forest areas in Ba Sao ward, the fire was at risk of threatening the 500kV high-voltage power line running through the area and thousands of hectares of forests and fruit trees of the people.
In addition, the forest terrain here is rocky mountains, steep cliffs, mainly cat's ears, there is no trail to rise high, so it is difficult to put out fires and extinguish fires on mountain peaks. The forces participating in fire prevention and fighting had to use hand saws to cut down trees, creating a 10m runway to prevent the fire from spreading.

Right on the evening of April 16, Mr. Truong Quoc Huy - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ha Nam People's Committee went directly to the scene, requiring the maximum mobilizing forces to maximize human and material resources to cut the entire tree under the 500kV power route running through the forest in the night, with the ultimate goal of protecting the 500KV power route.
There are currently no official statistics on the area of damaged forests. The cause of the forest fire is being clarified by the authorities.
