On March 21, the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that the unit had received a report about many people being bitten by dogs suspected of having rabies in Thanh Cong village, Ea Na commune.
According to Mr. D. H. Q, his family raises 2 dogs. At the beginning of February 2026, one dog showed signs of illness and died, the family buried it in the cocoa garden behind the house.
On March 15, the remaining dog became aggressive and bit Mr. Q's two daughters, D. T. H. N and D. T. P. T. On March 16, the dog continued to bite Mr. Q. On March 17, this animal continued to attack 3 more neighbors, including Ms. N.T. Q, Ms. T.T. H and Mr. N.N.Â.
Among the victims, Ms. H and Mr. Â were vaccinated against rabies.
On March 18, Mr. Q destroyed the dog and buried it in the cocoa garden behind the house. Through investigation, in addition to biting people, this dog also bit 3 other neighbors' dogs.
On March 19, the Buon Ma Thuot Regional Livestock and Veterinary Station took samples from a dog suspected of having rabies for testing, and there are currently no results.
By March 20, functional forces had guided people bitten by dogs to get rabies vaccination.
Dak Lak CDC coordinated with grassroots health facilities to implement rabies prevention measures in Thanh Cong village, Ea Na commune. At the same time, 3 dogs bitten earlier were kept in captivity for monitoring until test results were available.
