In 2025, traffic accidents in the Capital decreased in all 3 criteria compared to 2024; in which, accidents related to alcohol concentration and school age decreased sharply.
At the conference summarizing the work of ensuring traffic order and safety in 2025 and deploying tasks in 2026, Standing Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said that the work of ensuring traffic order and safety is led and directed throughout from the city to the Traffic Safety Board of 126 communes and wards.
In the past year, Hanoi Police have directed the handling of 502 major cases related to traffic order and safety. Propaganda and dissemination of laws have been implemented in a variety of ways, with propaganda through loudspeaker systems at 61 key traffic junctions; providing 9,090 news and articles to the press; building 792 reports, 6,374 articles; organizing 845 propaganda sessions, attracting nearly 893,000 participants, along with many forms of propaganda on social networks and in schools.
In parallel with that, functional forces focus on handling points where traffic accidents often occur; strengthening infrastructure maintenance, transportation management, vehicles and inspection and handling of violations.
As a result, the Hanoi City Police force inspected and handled 264,643 cases of violations of traffic order and safety on roads, railways and waterways; fined more than 621.6 billion VND, a decrease of 26.48% in the number of cases and a decrease of 7.52% in the amount compared to 2024. Functional forces temporarily detained 62,322 vehicles, revoked 9,861 driver's licenses.
Notably, the Hanoi People's Committee has established a Steering Committee to manage and handle 5 major groups of issues including: traffic congestion; flooding; urban order; environmental pollution and food safety.
The city also drastically implemented many solutions to reduce traffic congestion at the end of the year such as: narrowing the scope of roadway occupancy at 6 key projects; adjusting traffic organization at 218 locations; lane separation on 8 routes; installing and supplementing traffic lights at 6 locations; strengthening traffic connections in urban areas.
