Hope policies for workers are getting better and better
Attached to the work of a worker in Hanoi for more than 20 years, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hau (from Nghe An) has become accustomed to the rhythm of making a living in a foreign land. Because he is far from home, every election he exercises citizenship at his lodging.
For Mr. Hau, each time he goes to vote brings special emotions - both honor and pride when contributing his voice to select a worthy delegate. This Sunday, March 15, he still has to go to work, but with the facilitation of the company, he will wake up early to go to the polling station, vote and then go to work.
Going to the polls is the right and also the responsibility of each citizen. I will take advantage of the morning to go vote and then continue to work" - Mr. Hau shared. For Mr. Hau and also the thoughts of many workers, each ballot is not just simply choosing delegates but also the entrustment of trust and expectations of the people; including them - workers who always want the State to have appropriate policies to ensure life, jobs, and income for workers.
Leaving Nghe An to Hanoi to make a living from a young age, the years of working far from home brought Mr. Hau the most profound experiences about the life of a person who escaped to make a living.
Being away from home for a long time, I understand the deprived and hard life of workers. Therefore, I, like many workers, always hope that policies for workers will be better and better so that workers in general and workers away from home coming to work in industrial parks in particular can feel secure in their work. My ballot is also like many other workers, all hoping to choose delegates who truly listen and understand the lives of workers" - Mr. Hau said.
Mr. Hau also expressed his hope that the elected delegates will pay more attention to practical issues for workers such as income, working conditions, housing and social security policies. According to him, when the voices of workers are listened to and fully reflected, the policies put forward will be closer to reality.
Currently, he rents a room in Hau Duong village, Thien Loc commune with his eldest son. His wife and two young children are still in the countryside. Living away from his family for many years makes him even more appreciate the values of labor and stability in life.

Helping workers understand correctly and fully about elections
To help workers understand correctly and fully about elections, Trade Union levels have organized many practical activities. Hanoi City Labor Federation organized 2 large-scale legal communication programs. 600 officials, union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers were not only briefly introduced to the position and role of the National Assembly and People's Councils in the political system but also analyzed clearly the basic principles of elections, procedures and regulations to ensure the rights of voters who are workers.
In particular, the propaganda did not stop at the content given but also had exchanges and questions-and-answers between union members and workers and reporters. Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, one of the union members present at the propaganda session, said that before that he thought going to vote was just holding a ballot and putting it in the box.
But after the communication session organized by the Trade Union, Mr. Nam understood that each ballot carries his expectations for delegates who can care, listen, and have a voice to contribute to salary, insurance, and welfare policies in the next 5 years. “Therefore, each worker needs to hold a pen and write the ballot with a truly responsible attitude” - Mr. Nam shared.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Trade Union of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks of Hanoi City - said that besides the direct form, information about elections is also strongly spread on the online space. Visual infographics and short video clips about the election process are widely shared on Zalo and Facebook groups of grassroots trade unions.
At Yamaha Motor Vietnam Limited Company and many businesses in Thang Long Industrial Park, the Trade Union of High-Tech Parks and Hanoi Industrial Park organized many direct propaganda sessions right during mid-shift breaks. Practical situations such as registering for voting at temporary residence for out-of-province workers or how to handle overlapping shifts on election day were all answered specifically and easily understood.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Lieu - Chairman of the Trade Union of Ogino Vietnam Co., Ltd., the unit determines that propaganda is not just rereading legal documents. Here, the necessary thing is to help workers understand and grasp the content of voting rights so that they can properly fulfill their responsibilities and obligations as citizens.
When they understand and realize that the ballot is their own voice to send to the State apparatus, they will proactively learn about the candidate's biography to choose people with heart, vision, and sufficient capacity.
