Late at night on December 8, the Traffic Police - Order Team of District 11 Police organized patrols on the roads, ensuring traffic order and safety in the area.
On Lac Long Quan Street (District 11), the working group discovered Mr. D.H.S. (60 years old, residing in District 11) showing suspicious signs, so they signaled the vehicle to stop for inspection and discovered an alcohol concentration of 0.134 mg/liter of breath. Mr. S. was fined 2.5 million VND by the traffic police.
Mr. S. said he invited four friends to a restaurant on Luy Ban Bich Street, Tan Phu District, to celebrate his birthday. His friends all rode motorbikes and only drank soft drinks and mineral water because they were afraid of being checked for alcohol by the traffic police. On his happy day, Mr. S. drank two cans of beer, then drove home.
“I thought my house was close and I could drive home after drinking that much beer, but I didn’t expect to be fined by the traffic police. I don’t use a phone and don’t know how to book a motorbike taxi, so I drove home myself,” Mr. S. said.
About 20 minutes later, Mr. L.Q.H. (50 years old, residing in District 11), driving on the road with signs of being not sober, was also checked by the traffic police and found to have an alcohol concentration of 0.763 mg/liter of breath. The working group made a record of Mr. H., fined him 7 million VND, revoked his driver's license for 23 months, and had his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
Mr. H. said he worked as a delivery man. He had just come home from work that evening when a friend called and invited him out for a drink. After drinking about 5 cans of beer, he drove home and was stopped by the traffic police.
Similarly, driver D.T.C. (from Tien Giang), while driving through District 11, was also checked by traffic police and found to have an alcohol concentration of 0.28 mg/liter of breath and was fined 4.5 million VND.
During the night, several other drivers who violated alcohol concentration were also checked and fined by the Traffic Police - Order Team of District 11 Police.
