According to Lao Dong, on the night of November 24, Mr. N.V.C. (born in 1987, from Ca Mau), went to a funeral of an acquaintance on Tong Van Tran Street (District 11) and drank 3 bottles of beer. After the party, Mr. C. drove his motorbike back to his rented room 100 meters away.
Just as he was about to arrive at his residence, Mr. C. was checked by the Traffic Police - Order Team of District 11 Police, found to have an alcohol concentration of 0.494 mg/liter of breath, and was fined 7 million VND.
The male driver said that although he was drunk, he saw that the way home was short so he drove himself. He did not have a driver’s license and did not have a vehicle registration. “I work at a wood workshop. I just bought this car for 1 million VND to use as a means of transportation to support my wife and 5 children. I hope you understand,” Mr. C. said.
Another case is Mr. N.V.K. (born in 1988) driving a motorbike on Tong Van Tran street, showing signs of being intoxicated, was stopped by the traffic police for a check, and found to have an alcohol concentration of 0.821 mg/liter of breath.
Mr. K. was fined 7 million VND by the task force, had his driver's license revoked for 23 months, and had his vehicle impounded for 7 days. The male driver said he had dinner at a relative's house in District 11 and drank 5 cans of beer. On his way home on Le Van Quoi Street (Binh Tan District), he was stopped by the task force.
Next, the Traffic Police - Order Team of District 11 Police checked and found an alcohol concentration of 0.231 mg/liter of breath for Mr. T.V.D. (born in 2001). Mr. D. said that he was on his way from District 6 to District 11 to drink when the traffic police blew his breath. The working group drew up a report and fined Mr. D. 2.5 million VND.
During the night, several other drivers who violated alcohol concentration were also fined and had their vehicles temporarily impounded by the traffic police. A traffic police officer said that the alcohol concentration test was aimed at educating people to obey the Traffic Law and not to drive after consuming alcohol to avoid causing accidents for themselves and others.
