Dien Bien - There were more than 300 landslides on the route to the flooded area, including more than 30 serious landslides, making rescue work very difficult.

In the early morning of August 1, the flood in Dien Bien province caused serious landslides on National Highway 12 (the section connecting from Nu Ngam commune to Muong Luan communes).

According to the reporter's records, on the road section of more than 30km long, from Km215 (Nua Ngam commune) to Km246 (Na Son commune), there are about 300 large and small landslides. Of which, there were at least 30 locations with particularly serious landslides, with rocks and soil from the embankment having overflowed, completely burying the road surface.

Many trees were swept away and broken all over the road. Some landslides extended for tens of meters, with an estimated volume of rock and soil of up to thousands of cubic meters, causing complete traffic congestion.

Talking to Lao Dong, a representative of Dien Bien Road 2 Joint Stock Company (the road management unit) - said that the unit has mobilized maximum human resources and machinery including excavators, bulldozers and other specialized vehicles to coordinate with local authorities to promptly fix the problem.

However, the large amount of landslides, stretching for many kilometers, combined with the rugged mountain pass terrain, caused difficulties for the construction force.
