By 10:30 a.m. on August 1, Dien Bien province had recorded heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods. Of which, 3 people died (1 person in Co De village, Xa Dung commune; 2 people in Tia Dinh village, 1.2 - Xa Dung commune). At least 8 people are missing (2 people in Hang Pu Xi village, 3 people in Chong Su A village and 3 people in Tu Xa B village, Xa Dung commune).
Currently, the Dien Bien Provincial Department of Health has deployed a working group led by the Deputy Director of the Department, along with leaders of the provincial General Hospital functional departments, the provincial Center for Disease Control and a team of doctors and nurses to the scene to organize treatment of the injured.
At 10:30, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Lo Van Cuong - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - said that he and the provincial working group had moved to the scene as soon as they received the report. However, it is still not possible to access the heavily flooded area due to many landslides and deep flooding.



According to the initial report from the Defense Command of Region 3 - Na Son (Dien Bien province), there are currently more than 30 houses that have sunk and buried due to landslides in Xa Dung, Na Son, Muong Luan, and Phinh Giang communes.
As soon as the information was received, the Military Command of Dien Bien province directed the Defense Command of Region 3 - Na Son to alert and mobilize all forces and mobile means for rescue.
Currently, in Dien Bien province, rain is still continuing, many areas are at high risk of landslides and continue to be isolated.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 6 hours (from 9:00 p.m. on July 31 to 3:00 a.m. on August 1), Dien Bien province had moderate rain, heavy rain to very heavy rain like Phu Nhi 97mm.
Soil moisture models show that some areas are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached a saturated state.
In the next 6 hours, there is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in many communes/wards: Muong Luan, Na Son, Pu Nhi, Tias Dinh, Xa Dung, Cha To, Muong Cha, Muong Nha, Muong Phang, Muong Toong, Na Bung, Na Hi, Na Tau, Nam Ke, Nu Ngam, P. Dien Bien Phu, Muong Thanh, Phinh Giang, Quang Lam, Sam Mon, Sin Chai, Thanh An, Thanh Nua, Thanh Yen, Tua Thang.
