On the afternoon of July 6, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dang Van Tay Lo - Chairman of Vam Co Commune People's Committee (Tay Ninh province) said that the locality had received information from a family in the area after the family noticed that the information on the artifacts discovered along with a set of martyrs' remains at Le Thi Rieng Park (HCMC) had many points that coincided with the files of relatives being searched for. The family has contacted the authorities to coordinate verification.
According to Mr. Lo, in the morning of the same day, the family reported to the Commune People's Committee after comparing the information announced about the artifacts found and the remains and found that there were many details consistent with the files of relatives being searched. Currently, the family is arranging work to come to Ho Chi Minh City to coordinate in verifying the identity.
Immediately after receiving the information, competent functional agencies came to work with the family to collect, compare records and verify more related information, serving the process of identifying personal information according to regulations.
According to information from the family, relatives are believed to have sacrificed in Ho Chi Minh City during the General Offensive and Uprising of Spring Mau Than 1968. For many years, the family has not determined the burial place and always hopes to find the remains.
Previously, during excavations at Le Thi Rieng Park, functional agencies discovered a number of sets of martyrs' remains and many valuable artifacts.
Notably, at one set of remains, there was a piece of paper attached with a lot of information, including the following contents: "South Vietnam Liberation Army. Due to work needs..... capacity, ethics of cadres, with proposal from units... 962. Battalion Command decided Comrade Huynh Van Quen, Deputy Squad Leader... Unit Command 962. Comrade Quen".
Functional agencies have announced the above information to support relatives of martyrs nationwide to compare, identify and contact for verification, contributing to early identification of the found martyrs.
