On the afternoon of June 1st, Steering Committee 515 of the city had a field survey at Le Thi Rieng Park, Hoa Hung ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The purpose of the trip is to assess the initial results in the journey to search and verify the suspected location of the mass grave of the martyrs who sacrificed in the Mau Than Spring of 1968.
Directly going to the field were Ms. Van Thi Bach Tuyet, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Head of the City Steering Committee 515; Major General Nguyen Thanh Trung, City Party Committee Member, Political Commissar of the City Command, Standing Deputy Head of the City Steering Committee 515; Colonel Nguyen Dinh Chuan, Deputy Political Commissar of the City Command, Deputy Head of the City Steering Committee 515, along with local leaders and many witnesses who used to live in the Do Thanh Cemetery area before.

Sharing with the working delegation, Major General Nguyen Thanh Trung said that over the past time, the City Command has diligently researched and connected each clue from old maps to photos stored at home and abroad. Officers and soldiers have also made efforts to go to the place to talk with historical experts and witnesses who have witnessed events at the former Do Thanh Cemetery (now Le Thi Rieng Park).
Thanks to the valuable image materials provided by the people, plus the field survey and simulation analysis, the City Command has identified some suspicious locations. This is very likely to be the resting place of the officers and soldiers who fell in the heroic Spring Mau Than 1968 battle.

Right at the park, the working delegation examined each location and listened to details about the information collection process. The delegates all appreciated the dedication and proactiveness of the City Command in closely connecting with experts and historical witnesses to gradually decipher the traces of time serving the work of collecting martyrs' remains.
Directly monitoring the progress of work, city leaders shared that finding and identifying the names of martyrs is not only an important task but also an order from the heart. This fully reflects the morality of "drinking water, remembering the source" and the deep gratitude of the government as well as city residents for those who sacrificed for national peace.
In the near future, from the clues collected, the City Steering Committee 515 will organize a specialized workshop to dissect and re-evaluate all information. This careful step will create a solid basis to accurately identify the area of the mass grave, paving the way for the search and bringing them back to their families and comrades in the shortest time.
