Da Lat says no to chariots at Xuan Huong Lake

LAM HỒNG |

Lam Dong - The suspension of horse-drawn carriages at Xuan Huong Lake is to ensure environmental hygiene and traffic for people and tourists.

On March 12, the People's Committee of Da Lat City officially announced the suspension of horse-drawn carriages in the Xuan Huong Lake area to ensure the environment, reduce traffic congestion and improve tourism quality.

Horses have long been a characteristic of Da Lat, but slow moving and sharing the road with other vehicles can easily cause congestion and pose a potential safety risk.

In addition, waste from horse-drawn carriages also affects environmental sanitation, many people have expressed their opinions.

To support horse business households to adapt, the city allows horse businesses to operate until the end of March 2025, giving them time to prepare for conversion. At the same time, this service is not completely banned but will be relocated to another more suitable area.

The People's Committee of Da Lat City affirmed that this is a necessary step to develop sustainable tourism, while creating space for night-time economic activities, contributing to improving the experience for tourists.
