On July 8, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong had a working session with the National Assembly Delegation of Korea led by Mr. Kim Gihyeon - Member of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Special Committee on the APEC 2025 Summit.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong welcomed the delegation to visit and work in Da Nang and shared about the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea that is developing strongly in many fields such as economy, investment, trade, culture, tourism, etc.
Informing the delegation about Da Nang merging with Quang Nam province from July 1, 2025, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee said that the new city will operate according to the two-level local government model and have the largest scale among centrally-run cities.
According to Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, after the merger, Da Nang has many development potential with 2 international airports, 3 international seaports, 2 world cultural heritages, Hoi An ancient town and My Son Holy Land, along with dynamic economic zones such as Free Trade Zone, International Financial Center, Da Nang High-Tech Park and Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that with those potentials, Da Nang and other localities and Korean enterprises will have more opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, finance, tourism and cultural exchange.
On this occasion, he also invited Korean organizations and localities to attend the Vietnam - Korea Festival held annually in Da Nang from August 1 to 3.

Regarding the experience of organizing APEC 2017, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong emphasized that this is the first time Vietnam has organized a large-scale international event outside the capital. During the 6 days of the event (November 6 - 11, 2017), Da Nang welcomed about 11,000 delegates, including 2,000 domestic and foreign businessmen and 3,000 domestic and foreign reporters. Leaders of 21 APEC member economies and 3 Southeast Asian countries (Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar) were present in the city, including South Korea.
On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Kim Gihyeon expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the leaders of Da Nang City and said that he would study and learn from the experiences of APEC 2017 to prepare for the APEC 2025 Summit.
