Traffic "black spot
For many years, the Le Thanh Nghi - Cach Mang Thang Tam - Thang Long traffic intersection cluster - the access road to Hoa Xuan bridge has become one of the areas causing the most infrastructure frustration in Da Nang. This is the intersection of many arterial roads, leading to a traffic volume that is always at its maximum level, especially during peak hours. The situation of cars and motorbikes jostling and competing for walkways happens frequently, turning this place into a "black spot" of congestion and potential traffic accidents.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan - a resident living and doing business right in the area, worried: "Here, cars and motorbikes are crowded and intertwined among the extremely crowded flow of people. Once I stood waiting for the stream of cars to be reduced to cross the road, but before I could walk, I was hit by a technology motorbike taxi from somewhere. At that time, because I was busy serving customers, I was also somewhat negligent, but in reality, traffic in this area is too complicated and potentially risky.
According to Ms. Lan, every day during peak hours from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM, local congestion occurs again, making travel extremely difficult.
Mr. Phan Van Thao - another local resident - said that traffic pressure here comes not only from the inner city but also from neighboring areas: "The number of vehicles from Hoa Xuan, Trung Luong, Con Dau... heading towards Quang Nam road is very large. The flow of vehicles from Ngu Hanh Son also concentrates here, so traffic pressure is extremely tense.

Spending billions of VND to "rescue" infrastructure
Recently, Da Nang City People's Committee approved the investment of component project 2 belonging to the Hoa Xuan bridge traffic intersection cluster. The project is implemented in Hoa Cuong and Hoa Xuan wards with the goal of completing the traffic infrastructure network according to the planning orientation, synchronously connecting the infrastructure system in the area.
The project will build and complete the grade-separated traffic intersection cluster on the principle of taking advantage of the old Hoa Xuan bridge to limit site clearance, and at the same time build a new intersection downstream. At the intersection in Hoa Cuong ward, a tunnel will be built on Cach Mang Thang Tam street for direct and indirect left turns across Hoa Xuan bridge. Le Thanh Nghi street section from Doan Quy Phi to Hoa Xuan bridge will be expanded, along with the expansion of Do Xu bridge towards Khue Trung lake. Another tunnel will also appear on Thang Long street along with the service road system on both sides to regulate traffic flow.
On the Hoa Xuan ward side, the project will reorganize the Hoa Xuan - Nguyen Thong - Giang Huong 2 bridge access road intersection, and at the same time build a riverside road running under Hoa Xuan bridge connecting from Giang Huong 1 street to Ton That Duong Ky street. The entire project has a total investment of more than 1,378 billion VND from the State budget. The Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport and Agricultural Works of Da Nang City is assigned to be the investor. According to the roadmap, the project will officially start construction in 2026 and is expected to be completed and put into use in 2029.
