Many graves interspersed with people's houses
Through survey data, there are still 1,091 graves in residential areas in Son Tra ward. To resolve them thoroughly, the locality has developed a specific phasing plan for each land clearance project associated with public investment.
First of all, the project to expand the area of Tran Quoc Toan Elementary School will relocate 340 graves with an estimated compensation cost of more than 3 billion VND, using the compensation and site clearance capital of 5 billion VND in 2026 to be implemented from the end of 2026 to the beginning of 2027.
For the project to build cultural institutions and public works after tomb clearance, nearly 5 billion VND of compensation and clearance capital in 2026 has been allocated. Up to now, Son Tra ward has successfully relocated most of the graves and currently only six graves have not been cleared. Phase two of this project with a scale of 745 other graves has also been allocated capital by the city to prepare for investment according to regulations in order to quickly accelerate the progress of urban site clearance.
Plan to use clean land fund after relocating graves
To thoroughly solve the problems with public land funds after clearing graves in Son Tra ward, Da Nang city leaders have directed specialized agencies to develop appropriate land use planning plans.
Regarding the principle of handling clean land funds after moving graves out of residential areas, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Le Quang Nam affirmed: "For clean land funds after clearance, if they fully meet the criteria for area and favorable location, the city will prioritize planning the construction of public works. In which, focus on developing green spaces or common living spaces to bring a ventilated and quality living environment for people.
Mr. Le Quang Nam said: "The City People's Committee has directed relevant departments and agencies, focusing on the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Construction to closely coordinate to synchronously deploy the guidance system, and at the same time strengthen field inspections to accelerate the progress of resolving administrative procedures on land for people.
Regarding the use of land plots after the tomb clearance in Son Tra ward, local representatives said that there has been an important adjustment. The item of building a community activity house here has stopped being implemented because the land area is no longer suitable for the scale of new residential groups after streamlining the two-level local government. Currently, Son Tra ward authorities are urgently reviewing all these land plots to propose a plan to use them as escape routes or more compact public works.
