On the afternoon of August 23, the People's Committee of Da Nang City held an urgent meeting in person and online with 94 communes, wards and special zones in the area to review the preparation for storm No. 5 (international name Kajiki).
According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, most localities in the area are currently without rain, some communes such as Phuoc Hiep, Tra Van, Tra Leng, Hung Son, Phuoc Thanh have light to moderate rain. Water levels of rivers below alert level I, irrigation reservoirs, and hydropower plants have been inspected, ensuring safety, and being ready to regulate floods.
Da Nang currently has 528 fishing vessels with 3,783 workers operating at sea. The city Border Guard has called on ships to take shelter, by 4:00 p.m. the same day, there was only 1 ship with 10 workers in the affected area, and it is expected to enter the port safely at night.

In his speech, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that this is the first storm to affect the new Da Nang, which may confuse some units, so absolutely do not be subjective in any situation. The city chairman requested departments, branches and localities to closely monitor the developments.
Prepare plans to respond to the risk of flooding, landslides, and flash floods; prepare plans to relocate and evacuate people. The plan to prevent storm No. 5 must focus on 4 on-site areas, especially in coastal and mountainous areas that are prone to isolation when landslides occur.
In addition, units are required to ensure the safety of the dyke system and reservoirs; arrange 24/7 duty forces to handle incidents; guide traffic, ensure safety for people during storms.
According to the Central Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 p.m. on August 23, the center of the storm was at about 17.7 degrees North latitude; 113.7 degrees East longitude, about 220km northeast of Hoang Sa Special Zone. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 10 (89-102km/h), gusting to level 12; moving in the West Northwest direction at a speed of 20-25km/h.
From the night of August 24 to the end of August 26, in the Northern Delta, South Phu Tho and from Thanh Hoa to Hue City, there is a possibility of a widespread heavy rain with common rainfall of 100-150mm, locally over 250mm; Thanh Hoa to North Quang Tri will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 200-400mm, locally over 700mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>200mm/3 hours).
