Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Quang Buu has just signed a decision approving the organization of the Chairman, tasks, funding, spending method and implementation time for city-level science and technology tasks in 2025.
The task name is to research the heritage to develop Ngoc Linh ginseng (Panax Vietnamensis Ha et Grushv) in ecological areas with an altitude of 1,000m or more above sea level.
The host institution is Quang Nam College. The head of the task is Dr. Tran Cong Dinh. The total implementation cost is more than 2.55 billion VND.
The implementation period is 48 months (from September 2025 to September 2029).
Ngoc Linh ginseng is a rare medicinal herb in Vietnam, which can be exploited after 5-7 years of planting. The current value ranges from a few tens to a few hundred million VND per kilogram depending on the type.
In Da Nang City, Tra Linh Commune is currently the locality with the largest area of Ngoc Linh ginseng in the country, and is also a place to fully preserve the valuable local knowledge about this ginseng variety.
In particular, "Folklore knowledge about Ngoc Linh Ngoc Linh ginseng" has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
