Among them, the image of veterans in neat military uniforms, veterans of the front line wearing soldier uniforms stands out, accompanying today's generation of young people and children. That image is a vivid testament to the continuation of traditions through generations, the past and present in harmony with one of the great festivals of the nation.
At Nam Duong Park (Hai Chau Ward) - one of the live TV stations of the parade from Ba Dinh Square (Hanoi), hundreds of people gathered to watch in a solemn and emotional atmosphere. With eyes attention, tight hands, many elderly and young people could not hide their separation when seeing the mighty army moving through the Historical Square.
Mr. Huynh Van Bau, 71 years old, a veteran in Hai Chau, was moved: "Every National Day, we feel like we are returning to heroic memories. Today, seeing the young generation radiant under the national flag, I am even more confident".
Ms. Tran Thi Lan, a former youth volunteer, was also choked up: "Independence Day is the nation's biggest festival. After years of bombs and bullets, we have a deeper understanding of the value of today's peace. Seeing Da Nang covered with the flags and flowers, I was extremely moved.
Le Uyen Nhi, 20 years old, a member of the Da Nang City Youth Union, said: "To walk with the Veterans and former cooperatives on the occasion of the National Day of Independence, we feel even more grateful, proud and aware of our responsibility to the country".
Not only on the streets, but in many families, the atmosphere of the independent New Year is also overflowing. In Hoa Khanh ward, the family of veteran Trinh Van Tham - a soldier of the old Truong Son village, woke up at 5am to watch the parade together.
Mr. Tham, 74 years old this year, tearfully said: "Seeing today's parade, my heart is very much moved. When we were young, we only had backpacks, guns, and bullets, passing Truong Son in a bomb. Now that the country is peaceful and developed, I am proud to have also contributed a small part to this independence.
The joy of this year's independence New Year is also multiplied when, together with the whole country, Da Nang city has implemented the payment of more than 312 billion VND to give gifts to over 3 million people, according to Resolution No. 263/NQ-CP of the Government.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, a trader at Tam Ky market, expressed: "On National Day, receiving that encouragement, we felt warmer".
