Da Nang - In the immediate future, the city agreed to spend 200 billion VND to directly support people affected by damage and restore essential infrastructure.

Speaking with Lao Dong on the afternoon of November 1, Mr. Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City - said - the city has allocated 200 billion VND from the budget to directly support people affected by damage and restore essential infrastructure such as transportation, electricity, water, healthcare, education and environmental sanitation.

"The top priority at present is to soon stabilize people's lives and production. The city ensures adequate food, drinking water, and necessities - leaving no one without food or clothing, Mr. Hung emphasized.

Preliminary statistics as of October 31, the historic flood has submerged nearly 76,500 houses in Da Nang City; 10 communes were completely isolated; 11 people died, 4 people are missing, 31 people are injured, 78 houses have collapsed, 96 houses are damaged, 17 houses are at high risk of landslides. In addition, the damage to infrastructure, roads, and bridges and culverts was huge.

According to the leader of Da Nang City, after completing the damage statistics (expected on November 1), Da Nang will propose the Central Government to support thousands of billions of VND to overcome the immediate situation and implement long-term natural disaster prevention projects, such as: Anti-landslide on Hoi An coast; relocating and resettling people in mountainous areas in areas at high risk of landslides, investing in appropriate mountainous transport infrastructure works (electricity, roads, schools, stations) with resilience and other long-term sustainable solutions to gradually "opty up" with natural disasters.

The locality needs about 1,500 billion VND to build 5 km of Hoi An coastal embankment to prevent landslides, protect residential areas and coastal tourism infrastructure that are being seriously eroded.

In addition, the city will propose the Central Government to support about VND 2,000 billion to relocate and resettle people in mountainous areas at high risk of landslides. New resettlement areas will be planned in conjunction with infrastructure for livelihoods, schools, and healthcare, creating conditions for people to stabilize their lives and " live together safely with natural disasters".

"The city's goal is to not let anyone go hungry, lack clothing, or be unsafe. The relief and remediation of consequences must be carried out synchronously, drastically and humanely, Mr. Hung affirmed.

The People's Committee of Da Nang City has directed sectors to urgently restore medical examination and treatment, teaching, transportation and production activities, towards stabilizing life and recovering the economy after natural disasters.
