The railwaybed flow was blocked by floodwaters in Trung Gia

Hanoi It is expected that tomorrow (October 13), the roadbed reinforcement at the railway site swept away by floodwaters in the Da Phuc - Trung Gia section will be completed.

As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, due to storm No. 11 and the storm's circulation, the railway section from Km16+700 - Km18+300 in Trung Gia commune, on the Dong Anh - Quan Trieu route, has caused serious erosion. There are 3 most serious locations, including the location where floodwaters washed away the entire roadbed of a 40m long, about 4m deep; the rails were "suspended", creating a large hole like a broken dike, the floodwaters rushed downstream, completely paralyzing the railway line.

On the afternoon of October 12, a representative of Vietnam Railway Corporation said that the construction unit had filled in and prevented the flow in the area where the floodwaters damaged the foundation of the Dong Anh - Quan Trieu railway line (through the Da Phuc - Trung Gia section). It is expected that on October 13, the foundation of this section will be completed.

A representative of Vietnam Railway Corporation also said that the Hanoi - Quan Trieu railway line is currently suspending passenger trains, only operating freight trains with a frequency of about 7 trips/month. Therefore, units focus on blocking water flows to avoid flooding, affecting people's lives.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 11, at a meeting of the Hanoi City Civil Defense Command, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai - Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, proposed that Hanoi build a culvert across the eroded railway line, and upgrade all 45 pumps in this area. He also proposed a plan to relocate 800 households outside the dike to stabilize their lives.

In response to the above proposal, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen expressed his agreement and said that the city has surveyed the entire flooded area outside the dike in Trung Gia commune. The leaders of Hanoi City, departments, branches and commune authorities will include this area in the resettlement planning, in order to gradually relocate people to safe areas, ensuring stable and sustainable stability.
