When Mr. H. was discovered missing, his family searched the hospital grounds but could not find him, so they reported the incident to Quang Ngai General Hospital. The hospital sent out notices to departments and offices and sent search forces. Information about the search for patient H. was also posted on the hospital's website.

Mr. H. was determined to have signs of dementia.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that on the afternoon of September 23, while watering the plants in front of the main lobby of Quang Ngai General Hospital, the plant caretaker smelled an unpleasant odor and checked. After that, they discovered a body lying in the balcony crack of the hospital lobby.

The hospital immediately reported to the Quang Ngai Provincial Police. Authorities immediately arrived, sealed off the area, examined the body and investigated the cause of death.

According to information, the autopsy results showed that Mr. H. had multiple fractures; according to the medical record, he had thrombocytopenia. The area where the body was found was a concrete crack on the balcony, hidden by the branches and leaves of a tree. Because it was hidden, it was difficult to detect from the Intensive Care Unit to the balcony.
