The Standing Committee of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee has just issued a conclusion regarding the project to renovate and expand 10/3 Square in the center of Buon Ma Thuot Ward recommended by the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee.
Previously, in 2023, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot city (now Buon Ma Thuot ward) proposed a project with a total capital of nearly 471 billion VND, of which the construction cost was more than 375 billion VND.
According to the idea, the new 10/3 Square will be a green space, a place to organize important events of the province, at the same time carrying the cultural identity of local people and aiming to symbolize Vietnamese coffee trade with the world.
The design is expected to be divided into two spaces: The top connects from Truong Chinh Street to the flagpole and spraying lake; below is an underground tunnel system, including a parking area, shopping area, food and public hygiene.
However, the Standing Committee of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee concluded: 10/3 Square should not be expanded due to the large cost of compensation, site clearance and no longer having land for development.
Instead, only renovate the existing square, associated with the construction of the "Peace and Development" symbolic project donated by Hanoi City.
At the same time, the province is studying the option of building a new square at another location to create long-term development space.
