Overcoming difficulties
Dak Nong is located in the South of the Central Highlands, where people's lives are still difficult. Therefore, when starting to implement the National Target Program on New Rural Development (2010), Dak Nong faced many challenges.
Of which, the poverty rate is still high (accounting for 29.25%), average income per capita is only about 15 million VND/year.
Starting from a low point, the Party committees, Party organizations, authorities, fronts and unions of Dak Nong province have made efforts to lead and direct. Thereby, creating consensus among the people in building new rural areas associated with sustainable poverty reduction.
Resources from the State budget and social mobilization have been integrated with programs and projects that have gradually brought about synchronization in the province. During the implementation process, agencies, units and individuals have been assigned to help localities in building new rural areas and helping poor households escape poverty.
Agencies and units promptly advise on social security policies, ensuring people's rights. They enjoy support policies such as tuition exemptions, health insurance, electricity support, loans, agricultural and forestry promotion, housing construction, etc.
People with disabilities, the elderly, single-parent households, orphans, and poor households with meritorious people are cared for and supported. They often benefit from care policies, helping them overcome difficulties. Thereby, creating conditions for the poor to rise out of poverty.
According to the new rural commune criteria, up to now, the whole province has 48/60 communes meeting criterion No. 11 on multidimensional poverty reduction, reaching 76.67%, an increase of 2 communes compared to 2023.
Changing the face of rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction
According to the preliminary report on 3 years of implementing Resolution 12 dated December 16, 2021 of Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee, people have actively participated in building new rural areas. They contributed money, working days, donated land and crops, which converted into hundreds of billions of VND.
This contributes to changing the face of the countryside, making it more and more civilized. Infrastructure is invested, meeting essential needs. The quality of education, health care and culture is increasingly improved. People's income and living conditions are also gradually improved.
According to the sociological survey report assessing the results after 2 years of implementing Resolution No. 12 on new rural construction in the 2021-2025 period of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, 66.9% of respondents said their material and spiritual life was better.
The effective implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction has contributed to the successful implementation of socio-economic development goals, accelerating development, reducing poverty, and improving people's material life.
According to the new rural criteria for the period 2021 - 2025, by April 30, 2024, the whole province will have one district recognized as completing the new rural task. There are 40/60 communes meeting the new rural standards. Of which, there are 5 communes meeting the advanced new rural standards, with no communes below 10 criteria.
Mr. Le Trong Yen, Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, said that the National Target Program on New Rural Development is bringing positive results and sustainable poverty reduction.
Thereby, accelerating the pace of socio-economic development, gradually contributing to soon making Dak Nong a fairly developed province in the Central Highlands region.
Dak Nong province ranks 43rd out of 63 provinces and cities and 2nd in the Central Highlands region, after Lam Dong province, in terms of per capita income.
Poverty reduction work has achieved good results, the poverty rate has decreased to 3.15%, ranking first in the Central Highlands region and in the top 10 nationwide in poverty reduction work.
Regarding social security and charity work, in 2024, the province mobilized and called for over 80 billion VND. From there, nearly 200 houses were built and repaired, improving people's lives and improving the happiness index (only 5.5% were not satisfied with their current life).
