Traffic participants in Da Nang, before Decree 168, were famous for voluntarily obeying traffic lights.

After nearly 3 weeks of implementing Decree 168 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions for violations of traffic order and safety in the field of road traffic; deducting points and restoring driving license points has had a profound impact on awareness, significantly raising the consciousness of traffic participants.

According to many residents, traffic participants in Da Nang City before Decree 168 was issued voluntarily obeyed traffic lights even when there was no traffic police force to check and control.

After Decree 168 was issued, the sense of responsibility of each citizen participating in traffic was more clearly demonstrated, and new regulations on traffic culture and civilized urban areas were also supported by the people.

Mr. Van Quang - a resident of Da Nang - said that before Decree 168, on roads with traffic lights, people always obeyed well, there were still occasional violations but not many. Since the Decree was implemented, people's awareness has also increased.

Besides, many people think that besides applying deterrent fines, the city needs to improve traffic infrastructure, traffic lights, and signs to be clearer and more accurate.

Mr. Pham Chau - a resident of Da Nang said: "Roads that are often at risk of congestion during rush hour should also consider installing right turn signals and changing the traffic light counter cycles to meet the traffic needs of road users."

Regarding the issue of reducing traffic congestion on some routes during rush hour, Mr. Bui Hong Trung - Director of the Department of Transport of Da Nang City said that recently, the Department has applied the change of traffic light cycles depending on the traffic volume.

Regarding damaged traffic lights and faulty counters, the Director of the Department of Transport of Da Nang City added: "The Department has assigned the Traffic Signal and Public Transport Operation Center to develop a maintenance and repair plan to ensure safety and convenience for people participating in traffic, regularly checking traffic lights for timely handling."

Thus, the implementation of Decree 168 not only helps raise people's awareness of traffic law compliance but also promotes infrastructure improvement, contributing to building a more modern, safe and efficient traffic system in Da Nang City.
