On the morning of September 30, the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province confirmed that the two crew members on the fishing boat BV-0042TS (registered in Ho Chi Minh City) that went missing on the morning of September 28 in Cua Viet sea area have not yet been found.
Currently, the coastal border guards are still deploying forces and means to search for the two crew members.
The identities of the two missing crew members are Quach Hai Lam (born in 1984, from Thanh Hoa) and Pham Van Hien (born in 1989, from Nam Dinh).
Previously, two fishing vessels BV-4670TS and BV-0042TS took shelter from storm No. 10 in Cua Viet area (Quang Tri) when they encountered big waves, causing 1 fishing vessel to sink (3 crew members on board), 1 fishing vessel to be stranded (8 crew members on board), and 1 crew member to swim to shore.
Receiving information early in the morning of September 28, Trieu Van Border Guard Station, Cua Viet Border Guard Station, Squadron 2 Border Guard, Cua Viet Commune Police, Nam Cua Viet Commune Police and local people deployed a rescue plan.
By 9:00 a.m. the same day, the forces had approached and rescued 7 crew members on the fishing boat in distress BV-4670TS to safety. At 12:15 on the same day, a crew member of fishing boat BV-0042TS was holding on a buoy of the southern Cua Viet embankment and swam to shore and was successfully rescued by the forces. The remaining 2 crew members when the ship sank clung to a lifebuoy, were swept away by the waves and went missing.
In addition to the two boats in distress mentioned above, at 11:30 p.m. on September 28, two fishing boats BV-92756-TS and BV-92754-TS with 13 crew members were anchored at the North bank, Xuan Loc residential group (Bac Gianh ward, Quang Tri province) when their anchor ropes broke, drifted freely and had an accident. 4 crew members swam to shore safely, the remaining 9 people are missing.
Quang Tri province is salvaging the distressed ships and expanding the search area for missing crew members.
