Vocational training in line with market trends
According to information from the Dak Doa District People's Committee, the district has 17 communes and towns with 111 villages, hamlets and residential groups. According to the latest statistics, the district has nearly 72,000 people of working age. Of these, nearly 36,000 people have received vocational training, accounting for 49.8%.
From 2021 to December 2023, Dak Doa district organized training for 4,549 workers according to national target programs on new rural construction, socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas...
According to Mr. Huynh Siem - Vice Chairman of Dak Doa District People's Committee, vocational training programs have created a clear change in workers' awareness.
Workers have professional skills and are more favorable in job creation and applying advances in science and technology to production.
Every year, the District Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center (a unit under the Dak Doa District People's Committee) cooperates with Gia Lai College and enterprises to open intermediate vocational classes and provide vocational training for workers according to orders.
Statistics from the Dak Doa District Tax Department show that there are few large enterprises in the area, mainly small and micro enterprises. Therefore, the functional sector orients workers to occupations that are suitable for market trends and local needs.
Ms. Le Thi Huong - Head of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Dak Doa district - said: "The district focuses on training in agricultural and non-agricultural occupations, supporting production such as: Construction workers, repairing small-capacity tractors, industrial sewing, welding, veterinary husbandry, growing safe vegetables, growing medicinal plants under forest canopy...".
With an abundant labor force, Dak Doa District People's Committee has arranged enough cadres and civil servants to teach vocational skills to students.
Currently, the district has 19 civil servants specializing in vocational training (1 specialist from the District Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, 1 specialist from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) and 17 civil servants from the commune-level Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
Open up jobs for workers
With the propaganda method of "slow and steady wins the race", workers in Dak Doa district have heard a lot of information about vocational counseling and job introduction to have suitable future career orientation.
From 2021 to 2023, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Dak Doa district coordinated with the Provincial Employment Service Center, Gia Lai College... to organize 2 Job Fairs in the district center, attracting more than 2,600 participants.
The units also organized 37 job fairs in communes and towns with more than 4,000 participants and many counseling and career guidance sessions for students in the district.
Ms. Nguyen Dinh Thi My Lai - Director of the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education of Dak Doa district shared: "Job fairs and vocational training classes have helped improve the qualifications, understanding and knowledge of workers in mountainous areas. From there, workers have the opportunity to access better jobs and higher salaries."
According to Ms. Lai, the center also signed a contract to hire teachers from outside the province, who are specialized and have thorough knowledge of the profession, to come to the villages to teach the profession to the people.
However, vocational training under 3 months mainly serves on-site production workers. If trainees lack information after training, they can come to the center for support and connection to find suitable jobs.
The current problem in the area is that some workers still go to work abroad spontaneously without being introduced by authorities.
Workers, especially ethnic minority workers, are not yet familiar with and adapted to a disciplined working environment with strict time regulations at companies and businesses...
