Firefighting overnight in Bai Chay

Nguyễn Hùng |

Quang Ninh - Authorities have been handling the forest fire in Bai Chay, Ha Long City since last night, but as of this morning (December 18), the fire has not been controlled.

According to initial information, the fire started at around 9:00 p.m. on December 17, on a hill in the area from group 2 to group 5, zone 7, Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province. Due to the wind, combined with dry weather, the fire spread quickly.

Immediately upon receiving the news, all forces including: Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command, Ha Long City Military Command, Regiment 213, forest rangers, Fire Police - Ha Long City Police, militia, grassroots security forces and people of Bai Chay Ward..., along with equipment and vehicles, quickly approached the fire from many directions, actively implementing measures to contain and extinguish the fire.

However, due to dry weather and wind, the fire continued to spread until the morning of December 18. Authorities are taking measures to put out the fire and create a firebreak to prevent the fire from spreading. The cause and damage have not yet been determined.

Since Typhoon Yagi, there have been many forest fires in Quang Ninh province, partly due to forests dying from the storm and people cutting and burning them to replant, along with dry weather.
