Can Tho is developing a plan to exempt bus costs for cadres, civil servants and public employees from Hau Giang and Soc Trang to work in the city.

At the 21st session (special session) of the People's Council of Can Tho City, term X, 2021 - 2026, held on June 27, Mr. Le Tien Dung - Director of the Department of Construction - said that the city currently has 5 bus routes connecting Hau Giang and Soc Trang. The Department has worked with Phuong Trang bus company to open 10 new routes, with a frequency of 15 minutes/trip.

It is expected that in July, the plan will be completed for implementation. The city will submit a subsidy plan in the direction of free buses for cadres, civil servants and public employees from these two provinces when coming to work in Can Tho to facilitate travel after the restructuring of the apparatus.

The Department of Finance is also proposing to support 4 million VND/person/month (including travel and accommodation costs) to ensure living conditions for the team of cadres transferred after the merger.

Regarding the arrangement of public housing for officials after the merger, Mr. Dung affirmed that in the review, Can Tho has proactively developed a plan to upgrade and repair guesthouses to ensure enough accommodation for civil servants subject to mobilization and rotation.

In the long term, in the housing development program of Can Tho City submitted to the City People's Council, there is a plan to build 310 public housing units, with a total capital of about 365 billion VND, expected to meet the needs of about 1,240 people.

"This plan is included in the 2026-2030 medium-term period. The clean land fund is available, if implemented quickly, by the end of 2026, we will have 310 public housing units" - Mr. Dung informed.

Regarding social housing, the Director of the Department of Construction said that there are currently 4 projects with a total of 500 apartments that have not been registered, including: Gia Phuc social housing apartment building, Hong Loan 5C, Nam Long 2 lot 9A and Eco City. In the coming time, the Department will widely inform departments and branches so that cadres and civil servants with social housing needs can register to rent or buy in these areas.
