According to the submission, the Le Thuy 4 wind power project was previously planned in the VIII Power Plan with a capacity of 30MW. However, after a field survey, assessing wind potential and infrastructure conditions, the enterprise believes that the project can be expanded to exploit more effectively.
The enterprise proposed to increase the capacity to 198MW, divided into 4 independent wind power plants: Le Thuy 4-1, 4-2, 4-3 and 4-4, each with a capacity of 49.5MW. The total investment capital of the project cluster is expected to be about 317 million USD.
The Le Thuy 4 wind power project cluster is proposed to be located in the area between Hac Hai dam and Kien Giang riverbank, in the communes of Le Thuy, Cam Hong, Le Ninh, Truong Phu, Ninh Chau, Truong Ninh. The terrain is mainly low-lying, saline land, ponds and lakes along the river, making it difficult to cultivate agriculture.
The project uses about 46 hectares of land, minimizing the use of rice fields under strict protection and ensuring compliance with regulations on safe distances from residential areas, schools, hospitals, factories and other planning areas.
It is expected that the Le Thuy 4 wind power cluster, after being expanded, will produce about 480 million kWh of clean electricity per year, enough to supply about 160,000 households. Currently, the Provincial People's Committee is reviewing the proposed content to report to competent authorities.
