On May 11, the latest information from the People's Committee of Binh Khe commune, Gia Lai province said that regarding the accident at the foot of An Khe pass, 6 patients have been discharged from the hospital.
There are still 3 people being treated at Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital and 2 people being treated at Tay Son Medical Center.

The commune government has supported 3 million VND for cases of death waiting for relatives to receive them; supported 1.5 million VND/person for 2 severely injured cases; and 1 million VND/person for 2 mildly injured cases.
Binh Khe commune is adjacent to An Khe ward, Gia Lai province, connected by a dangerous mountain pass road stretching about 17km on National Highway 19.

For a long time, An Khe pass has always worried drivers because of its high mountain terrain, deep abysses, winding roads, and potential accident risks.
After being invested with billions of VND, Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction) has upgraded and expanded the traffic lane through the pass.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hac (resident of An Khe ward) said: "The volume of vehicles moving through the pass to return to the coastal area or back to the Central Highlands is very large. There are many times when the pass is jammed for many hours. The road surface is wider than before the upgrade, but there are still many sharp curves, blocking visibility.
Mr. Nguyen Cong De - Chairman of Binh Khe Commune People's Committee, Gia Lai province - said: "National Highway 19 has been handed over to the Provincial Department of Construction for management. After the accident, the commune government will have recommendations for solutions to ensure traffic safety in the An Khe pass area".
That could be the installation of additional convex mirrors, speed limit signs, and speed bumps to minimize collisions, especially at night.

At the same time, it is proposed that functional agencies strengthen checkpoints, inspect and handle trucks and dump trucks carrying construction materials moving through the pass road.
These types of vehicles have large tonnage, when going downhill or uphill it is very difficult to control speed, easily colliding with other vehicles.
In the rainy and storm season, local authorities often have orders prohibiting traffic through the pass due to the risk of landslides and rocks rolling down the road. Rescue and relief teams are also regularly on duty at An Khe Pass whenever incidents occur.
According to the initial report of the Binh Khe Commune Police force, at about 10:55 PM on May 10, at Km61+100 on National Highway 19, in hamlet 2, Thuong Son village, Binh Khe commune, a traffic accident occurred between a truck and a passenger car.
