Nghe An - More than 1,300 residents living in collective houses and old apartments were urgently evacuated to respond to storm No. 5.

On the afternoon of August 24, Thanh Vinh Ward (Nghe An) deployed an emergency evacuation plan for more than 1,300 residents living in old apartment buildings and apartment buildings, to ensure safety against storm No. 5.

At Quang Trung apartment complex and Hao Thanh apartment complex, many households quickly moved their belongings and moved valuable assets to a safe temporary shelter. This apartment complex was built in 1974, put into use since 1976, and has now seriously degraded.

Mr. Nguyen Sy Dieu - Chairman of Thanh Vinh Ward People's Committee - said: "We have completed the evacuation order, all residents must leave the dangerous area before 7:00 p.m. the same day. The collective housing blocks are past the age limit, with the potential risk of collapse during heavy storms.

To ensure safety, the authorities have arranged temporary accommodation for households in apartment buildings C6, C2, C4, D2... at cultural houses or some neighboring hotels. At the same time, two standing working groups were established to support movement and reassure people.

According to statistics, this evacuation period directly involved more than 1,300 people.

Recorded in Thanh Vinh, Truong Vinh, Vinh Phu, Vinh Hung, Vinh Loc wards... in the afternoon of the same day, light rains appeared, signaling that storm No. 5 is approaching the mainland.

Quang Trung apartment building has been in use for nearly 50 years, many items are severely damaged, with the potential risk of collapse at any time. Every rainy and stormy season, the people here always have to live in a state of insecurity.
