On October 27, Truong Son Commune Police (Quang Tri Province) said that they had just coordinated with forest rangers and border guards in the area to receive and hand over a pig-tailed monkey voluntarily handed over by the people.
Previously, during a propaganda session on wildlife protection in the villages, Mr. Ho Van Duong (born in 1957, residing in Rin Rin village, Truong Son commune) proactively contacted the working group and handed over a pig-tailed monkey (Macaca leonina), belonging to group IIB, weighing about 2kg.
According to Mr. Duong, when he was working in the fields, he discovered the monkey in a state of injury and took it home to take care of. After listening to the authorities' propaganda about wildlife protection, he voluntarily reported the news and handed it over to the authorities.
The police, forest rangers and border guards have drawn up a record, completed the dossier, and handed over the monkey to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Fauna and Fauna of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for care and release into the natural environment.
