On October 17, Truong Son Commune Police (Quang Tri Province) said that they had just coordinated with Truong Son Forest Protection Department to receive a red-faced monkey (Macaca arctoides) handed over by the people.
Previously, on the afternoon of October 16, Mr. Le Cong Thanh (residing in Khe Ngang village, Truong Son commune) discovered this monkey in the garden chasing a flock of poultry, so he arrested it and reported it to the local authorities.
The authorities identified this as a red-faced monkey, an endangered, rare wild animal in group IIB, weighing about 30kg.
After preparing the dossier, Truong Son Commune Police and the Forest Protection Department coordinated with the Commune People's Committee and the Quang Ninh Protective Forest Management Board to conduct rescue and release the monkey into the natural environment according to regulations.
