Mr. Lo Van Cuong - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee has just signed an approval of the economic - technical report on investment in the construction of works to overcome natural disasters and prevent landslides, protect the working headquarters and the central residential area of Tia Dinh commune.
The project has an investment scale including: embankment and works on the embankment. Specifically, build a embankment on the left side of the stream with a total length of more than 290m, the embankment is in the form of a against-psitive structure combined with a sloped roof.
The works on the embankment include: arranging embankment locks at the upstream and downstream locations of the embankment; 2 drainage culverts with a length of 10.7m; embankment top railing 1.2m high.
The project belongs to the Agricultural and Rural Development Project, Group C, level III. The life of the main project according to the design is at least 10 years. The Provincial Project Management Board for Agricultural and Rural Development is the investor. Project implementation progress in 2025.
The project has a total investment of 15 billion VND, supported by the central budget reserve in Decision No. 1660/QD-TTg dated December 26, 2024 of the Prime Minister.
The goal of the project is to overcome the landslides caused by natural disasters to protect land and property, ensure safety for cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, teachers, and students studying and working at headquarters and schools in the new central area of Tia Dinh commune.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, the heavy rain on the night of July 31 and early morning of August 1 caused flash floods and terrible landslides, causing heavy damage to people and property in many mountainous communes of Dien Bien province.
According to statistics, in Tia Dinh commune, 3 people were killed and 8 people were injured; 132 houses were damaged (10 houses were completely damaged, 48 houses were severely damaged).
