Dien Bien - The Department of Construction has just issued a notice of traffic diversion on National Highway 12 and provincial roads affected and damaged by floods.

As Lao Dong reported, the heavy rain from July 31 to August 2 caused flash floods and terrible landslides, causing heavy damage to people and property in many mountainous communes of Dien Bien province.

Up to now, the work of overcoming and handling landslides and congestion has completed step 1, ensuring temporary traffic opening to commune centers to serve relief activities and the travel needs of the people.

However, due to the large amount of damage, the weather is complicated, posing many potential risks, especially landslides and traffic jams.

To ensure traffic safety and meet the needs of transporting food, provisions, medicines and other necessary necessities for people in flooded areas.

The Department of Construction said that from 00:00 on August 12, all cars will be blocked from passing through the section Km242+600 - Km281 National Highway 12 and routes to the center of the communes: Xa Dung, Tia Dinh, Phinh Giang. Except for trucks under 5 tons carrying relief goods, functional vehicles, and priority vehicles.

Direction 2: From Sam Mon commune, follow National Highway 12 to Km242+600, turn left and Provincial Road 139 to the center of Na Son commune and vice versa.

Direction 3: From the center of Dien Bien Phu ward to provincial road 143 to the center of Na Son commune and vice versa.

Relief vehicles over 5 tons were gathered in the center of Na Son commune (old Dien Bien Dong town) and transferred by car under 5 tons to the remaining communes. Passenger buses to Muong Luan wharf will pick up and drop off passengers at Na Son (transportation fares only cover the Na Son commune area).

The time to implement traffic diversion starts from 00:00 on August 12 until the repair and repair of damaged road traffic infrastructure in the area is completed and there is further notice from the Dien Bien Department of Construction.

In recent days, floods and landslides in the North Central and Northern mountainous provinces have killed and left many people missing, houses, schools and maple blossoms were swept away and submerged in mud, affecting local production activities.
