On January 16, in the border marker area No. 144, Vietnam - Laos border (belonging to Noong E village, Muong Nha commune, Dien Bien), an inter-sectoral survey team led by Colonel Phan Van Hoa - Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command in coordination with departments and agencies surveyed and identified the location to upgrade the main border gate Huoi Puoc (Vietnam) - Na Son (Laos) into an international border gate.
At the working session, the delegation conducted a field survey at the connection point and on both sides of the border gate. Delegates discussed and assessed the advantages and disadvantages in the implementation process.

Accordingly, the determination of the location for upgrading the main Huoi Puoc border gate is agreed to ensure requirements for national defense - security and foreign affairs. The planning location must be consistent with the long-term development strategy, creating favorable conditions for state management of border gates.
According to Colonel Phan Van Hoa, the main pair of border gates Huoi Puoc - Na Son currently have full legal conditions to upgrade to international border gates. They have great potential in promoting goods circulation and attracting tourists from third countries.
The inter-sectoral survey delegation agreed to soon complete the procedures, report, and advise the People's Committee of Dien Bien province to send a Letter of Credence to the Government of Luang Prabang province (Laos) requesting to hold talks.
The talks are expected to agree on the location and plan to upgrade the main Huoi Puoc - Na Son border gate to an international border gate in the near future.
