On January 15, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish the Provincial Innovation Center.
The center is located in residential group 6, Dien Bien Phu ward (old campus of Dien Bien Vocational College).
This is a public non-business unit directly under the Department of Science and Technology, on the basis of reorganizing two units: the Center for Science and Innovation; the Center for Technology and Digital Platforms.



This center will provide public service in the field of science and technology; technical services on standards, measurement, product quality, goods...
According to Mr. Le Van Luong - Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, the formation of the Center is an urgent requirement, aimed at creating a focal point with sufficient capacity and authority to effectively implement 3 key pillars, including: Research, deployment, application and commercialization of technology; supporting innovative startups; operating and developing the province's digital transformation infrastructure.



Provincial leaders also requested the Center to promote the application of core technologies in industries and fields with potential and advantages of Dien Bien.
Along with that is to coordinate with strategic partners to bring artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and advanced digital technologies to solve practical problems in high-tech agriculture, smart healthcare and tourism development of the province.



Speaking online at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Bui Hoang Phuong - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology said that the establishment of the Center will form an important nucleus to promote a creative startup ecosystem, connecting resources inside and outside the province.

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong also said that Vietnam Post Corporation will pilot the provision of a number of new business models in Dien Bien.
Specifically, the unit will study and deploy delivery by drones to support people in mountainous and remote areas facing traffic difficulties.
