The T3 passenger terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport is entering the final stages of completion, expected to be inaugurated on April 30 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
Currently, the project has reached about 95% progress, and important items are being urgently completed to be ready for operation.
According to the record at the construction site on March 17, the T3 terminal and auxiliary works such as high-rise parking lots, overpasses in front of the terminal and the aircraft parking lot have been basically completed. The Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa route directly connecting to the station is also in the completion stage, expected to open to traffic before April 20.
A representative of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that many important items such as architectural structure, aluminum roof, and glass walls have been 100% completed. The remaining stages such as floor tiles, electrical systems, air conditioners, fire prevention and fighting, luggage alloy bands and elevators are in the process of installation and inspection.
The construction atmosphere at the construction site is extremely urgent with hundreds of workers and engineers working continuously. The baggage handling system has fully installed 8 lanes, 6 departure baggage islands and 10 arrival baggage islands. The screener and the automatic tray return system are also being inspected to ensure compliance with operating conditions according to regulations.

Terminal T3 was built to reduce the load on Terminal T1, which is overloaded by serving more than 26 million passengers per year while the designed capacity is only 15 million. When put into operation, Terminal T3 will have a capacity of 20 million passengers/year, meeting 7,000 passengers/peak hour.
A representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that Terminal T3 will be inaugurated on April 30. After the peak period of the April 30 holiday, Terminal T3 will be officially put into use. The two airlines Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet will be transferred to operate at the T3 passenger terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport.
The operation of Terminal T3 along with the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa route at the same time will contribute to improving airport infrastructure, reducing congestion at Tan Son Nhat gateway and improving the quality of passenger service.
