On February 14, the My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) - the investor of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project, said that in order to serve the increasing travel demand of people during the Lunar New Year, from February 12 to 15, two rest stops on the expressway will be put into temporary operation.
The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway has a length of nearly 111km, with a scale of 4 lanes. Along with the main route, the rest stop system is identified as an important item to ensure traffic safety and improve service quality on the entire route.

According to the investor, on the expressway, each component project including the Can Tho - Hau Giang section (more than 37km) and the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section are arranged with a rest stop, built on both the left and right sides of the route to ensure convenient traffic for vehicles.
Specifically, the rest stop at Km2006+00 in the Can Tho - Hau Giang section has a land acquisition area of about 11.5ha, located in Vinh Tuong commune, Can Tho city. The entry and exit items and essential public service areas on both sides of the station were completed on February 14 and officially put into temporary operation from 8 am on February 15. In the initial phase, the station provides basic services such as parking lots, public toilets, rest tables and chairs, drinking water and snacks to serve people.

Meanwhile, the rest stop at Km2061+200 in the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section has an area of about 6.3ha, located in Vinh Phong commune, An Giang province. Currently, the entry and exit items and essential public service area on the right side of the route (direction from Can Tho to Ca Mau) have been completed and put into temporary operation from 10 pm on the 12th. 2. This station serves parking lots, toilets and rest areas with tables, chairs, and soft drinks.
Putting temporary rest stops into operation is considered an urgent solution in the context of increasing traffic volume on the route, especially during holidays and Tet. Stops help limit the situation of stopping and parking in the wrong places on the expressway, reduce the risk of traffic unsafety and create conditions for drivers to rest and recover their health after a long journey.
