Growth of 7.48%
After merging into the new Quang Tri province, the local government has identified 2025 as a key time to promote comprehensive socio-economic development.
According to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, in the first 6 months of the year, the GRDP of the whole province is estimated at nearly VND28,560 billion, up 7.48% over the same period.
Agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 3.79% despite disadvantages in terms of weather and pests. Notably, the output of planted timber exploitation reached 1.14 million m3, an increase of nearly 28% over the same period. New rural construction programs continue to be effectively implemented, the rate of communes meeting new rural standards in the whole province reached more than 72%.
Trade and tourism activities have clearly improved. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached more than VND52,360 billion, up 12.3%. Tourism recorded nearly 4.9 million visitors, an increase of more than 26%. Festivals and cultural events are organized enthusiastically, contributing to promoting the image of Quang Tri as safe and friendly.
Budget revenue is estimated at VND6,800 billion, up 17.6% over the same period. Total social investment capital reached more than VND 27,200 billion. Key infrastructure projects such as Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, Hon La Port, coastal routes, and the eastern bypass of Dong Ha city are focused on speeding up progress.
Along with economic development, the fields of health, education, and social security are focused on. The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households has started construction of more than 4,400 houses. Policies to support agricultural production and stabilize the lives of ethnic minority people have been implemented synchronously.
The responsibility of leaders must be decisive
Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province Tran Phong highly appreciated the efforts of the entire government system in both focusing on economic development and completing the arrangement of administrative units. He emphasized that the merger is not only a requirement for organizing the apparatus but also an opportunity to create new development space and new motivation for the province.
"The spirit of action is to be determined and synchronous, not to let the restructuring of the apparatus delay the development progress. Agencies and units must uphold discipline and order, absolutely not to interrupt the work and rights of people and businesses, said the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province.
He requested each department, branch and locality to urgently review and perfect working regulations, arrange personnel "right people, right jobs", and stabilize the psychology of cadres. Key infrastructure projects must be accelerated in site clearance and construction, striving to complete major projects such as Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant and the North-South expressway section through the province in 2025.
In addition, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed to focus on effectively implementing solutions to stimulate tourism demand, improve the investment environment, unblock public investment flows and attract large projects.
Digital transformation programs, data infrastructure upgrades, and full-process online public services need to be implemented urgently to better serve people.
