Need motivation and pressure from the market
In order to replace traditional production methods that may have negative impacts on the environment towards green production, cooperative models and small and medium-sized enterprises urgently need appropriate support and encouragement mechanisms.
Recognizing the story of green transformation, Dr. Bui Thanh Minh - Deputy Director of Professional Affairs of the Office of the Private Economic Development Research Board (Board IV - photo) - affirmed: "When moving towards green transformation, a country cannot succeed if the private sector does not move in the same direction. Green transformation needs a synchronous policy system.

According to Dr. Bui Thanh Minh, first of all, there needs to be motivation and pressure from the market. For example, when businesses transform into green, can their green products sell better on the market, can they replace non-green products, and what is the consumer's willingness to pay. Businesses must see motivation to transform.
The State can support with public procurement policies, prioritizing green products, creating the first orders for businesses to boldly invest and continue to improve their products.
In addition, the carbon credit market also needs to become truly operational. When businesses transform, if they create excess carbon credits, this will be a supplementary resource, helping them have more financial resources to invest in their business model.
In addition to motivation, businesses also need pressure. In fact, many businesses only start moving when clear pressure appears. Pioneering businesses see opportunities and often actively transform without needing much external impact. But for most businesses, market pressure is very important.
Besides the motivation and pressure from the market as well as the internal strength of businesses, Dr. Bui Thanh Minh emphasized the role of "midwife" from the policy side. Typical examples are public procurement or conversion support programs. Businesses only really have motivation when they see support policies that can directly impact business efficiency, the loss-and-profit problem. Therefore, more business support programs are needed. The State needs to build infrastructure and policies to make the transition process more favorable, while creating conditions for businesses to access capital more effectively.
Improving the recognition of "green labels
On the business side, Mr. Bui Khanh Dung - Director of Musa Pacta Co., Ltd. - said that green transformation in agriculture is an inevitable trend, but more support policies are needed to help people, cooperatives and businesses improve their adaptability. These supports not only stop at capital incentives but also include technology, knowledge, training and communication work to raise consumer awareness.
In fact, consumer behavior plays a very important role in promoting green production. When choosing products, consumers are increasingly concerned about health and environmental factors. If green products are clearly identified through a system of labels and reliable certifications, consumers will easily recognize and prioritize choices.
Currently, Vietnam has green label programs for environmentally friendly products. However, the level of popularity and recognition in the market is still limited.
If green products are clearly labeled and prominently displayed on shelves, among many similar products, consumers will have more basis to make shopping decisions. Even, many people are willing to accept higher prices to support businesses pursuing sustainable production models" - Mr. Dung believes.
