The investment project to build an international airport in Ninh Binh is one of the key infrastructure orientations, associated with the overall planning of the national airport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Up to now, according to the Project to study the possibility of forming Ninh Binh Airport, the consulting unit has proposed 3 locations to build Ninh Binh International Airport. However, the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee has not yet finalized the specific location.
According to the Project, locations 1 and 2 proposed by the consulting unit will be built in Liem Tuyen ward, Binh Luc commune and Binh My commune; location 3 in Binh Son, Tan Minh and Thanh Binh communes.
Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc, Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, requested the consulting unit to study and analyze more in depth. In addition to the planned locations, it is necessary to study other locations to find the most suitable option.
According to Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc, when choosing a location, it is necessary to compare expected locations in terms of favorable factors, attractive areas, long-term development space for infrastructure development, urban areas and access to Hanoi Capital. At the same time, we would like to consult with central ministries and branches.
"The province's viewpoint and goal is to unify and express the highest determination to focus on planning and building Ninh Binh Airport, ensuring compliance with the General Planning of Ninh Binh province, the National Airport Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050" - Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc emphasized.
Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc requested the consulting unit to continue reviewing and adding to the draft Project, political bases - this is a particularly important factor for implementation. At the same time, supplement the necessary legal bases and documents to unify the expertise.
In the Project, it is necessary to highlight the necessity of Ninh Binh Airport with the view that it not only serves the socio-economic development of the province but also serves the common development of the southern region of the Red River Delta, along with road and waterway infrastructure, seaports will contribute to creating remarkable development for the entire Red River Delta.
"Ninh Binh province is assigning relevant departments and branches to coordinate with consulting units to urgently supplement, adjust, and complete the Project, report to the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for opinions on the viewpoint of building Ninh Binh Airport" - Mr. Ngoc said.
The expected scale, Ninh Binh International Airport is planned to meet level 4E standards according to the classification of the International Civil Aviation Organization, with 2 parallel runways. The total planned area is about 720ha.
The initial designed capacity is about 10 million passengers/year; there is a reserve of land to expand to meet the development needs in the following stages.
The total estimated investment is about nearly VND15,000 billion. Forecast of transportation demand, by 2030, it will welcome about 4.5 million passengers and by 2050, about 10 million passengers.
