Recorded on December 21, along the entire A41 canal (from Tran Quoc Hoan road to Cong Hoa road), construction units are urgently installing box culverts, technical cages, curbs, sidewalks and spreading crushed stone as roadbeds. Many sections have clearly shown the shape of the new route.

Living along the A41 canal for many years, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh (60 years old) said that the canal was previously heavily filled with silt, household waste, construction waste, plastic bottles, debris, tree branches... and was full, causing flow congestion and a strong stench. Many households have built and encroached on nearly half of the canals.

"Every time it rains heavily, the water rises, the garbage flows everywhere, and the stench is very unpleasant. Now thinking about the canal that was once full of garbage becoming a spacious road, people's lives have changed significantly, I feel very happy" - Mr. Binh shared.
The A41 canal is about 2 km long, consisting of two branches originating from the drainage culverts of Tan Son Nhat airport, converging in the Giai Phong road area, then leading the water to Cong Hoa road and pouring into the underground culvert system into the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal.
For many years, every time it rains heavily, Tan Son Nhat airport has often faced the risk of flooding, mainly due to the narrowing of A41 canal, congestion of waste, and poor drainage capacity.

The A41 canal renovation project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2016. According to the plan, in the 2016 - 2018 period, investment preparation, compensation, and site clearance will be carried out with a budget of about 400 billion VND; in the 2017 - 2019 period, construction will be carried out with a total investment of more than 160 billion VND.
According to the design, the section from Ut Tich Street to Giai Phong Street will install a double box culvert measuring 2.5 x 2.5m; the section from Giai Phong Street to Phan Thuc Duyen Street includes two branches of the canal, installing a single box culvert of the same size.
Above, a 12 m wide road will be built, with 4 m sidewalks on each side, combined with lighting and trees.

However, due to problems in site clearance, the project was not officially implemented until December 2024.
The Tan Binh District Investment and Construction Project Management Board (investor) said that the total construction volume of box culverts has reached 73%.

The project has 142 affected cases, including 135 households and 7 organizations. To date, 128 cases have agreed and received compensation; of which 114 cases have dismantled works and handed over land, reaching about 80%.
There are still 14 cases that have not agreed, are complaining and have not handed over the site, causing difficulties for the construction process.

The project is expected to be completed in 2026, helping to improve drainage capacity for Tan Son Nhat airport, while contributing to urban beautification, improving the living environment and facilitating people's travel on the newly formed route on the canal.
