In the afternoon and night of March 29, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by rain and hail occurred in Son La province, causing damage in some localities.
According to the Provincial Civil Defense Command, by 11:00 AM on March 30, the natural disaster killed 1 person.
The victim is Mr. Lau A Va (born 1998), residing in Co Chay village, Long Sap commune. When going to work in the fields near his house, he did not have time to take shelter and was struck by lightning.

In Pac Nga commune, there are 1 house with roofs over 70% blown off, 5 houses with roofs under 30% blown off, 1 house tilted and had to be dismantled; 1 power pole tilted; the kitchen of Vang Anh kindergarten (Suoi Cai village) was affected.
In Phieng Pan commune, 4 houses had their roofs blown off 30-50%; Na Pong village kindergarten had its roofs blown off; 2 power poles in Phieng Khang village were broken and fallen; the signboard of Tang village cultural house was damaged.
In addition, Muong Lam commune has 6 houses with roofs blown off under 30%; about 0.3ha of mangoes that are bearing young fruit are damaged. Nam Ty commune has 7 houses with roofs blown off under 30%.
Specialized agencies assess that the transitional season is prone to extreme weather. High temperatures combined with wind convergence at high altitudes make convective clouds develop strongly, causing thunderstorms, lightning, hail and gusts of wind.
These phenomena may continue in the near future, posing many risks.
