Stealing garbage, needs to be strictly handled

Hà Lê |

On the iHanoi application, many people are upset and reflect on the situation of illegally burning garbage, which greatly affects people's lives, environment and health.

In recent days, the problem of illegally burning domestic waste in garbage collection areas, especially at night, is causing serious air pollution in many localities, including the An Khanh commune area, Hanoi. The illegal burning of domestic waste has been and is directly affecting community health, especially for families with young children and the elderly, who are vulnerable to the adverse effects of environmental pollution.

Illegal burning of domestic waste often occurs at gathering points, where waste must be transported for treatment according to reasonable procedures and in accordance with the law. However, instead of being treated safely, waste is burned right on the spot, creating thick smoke, a pungent smell, causing air pollution. Night breezes have brought toxic smoke, causing air pollution not only in the burning area but also spreading to surrounding residential areas. This situation has been going on for many consecutive days, causing the community to feel uneasy and upset.

Air pollution from burning garbage not only directly affects air quality but can also cause serious diseases such as bronchitis, asthma, or cardiovascular diseases, especially for children and the elderly, who have weak resistance. Burning garbage also contributes to increasing greenhouse gas emissions, affecting the environment and exacerbating climate change.

Illegal burning of domestic waste may stem from the lack of awareness of some people or from the irresponsibility of functional agencies in managing and treating waste. Although people have paid enough waste collection fees, the improper waste treatment may be due to a lack of supervision and inspection by local authorities, or because collection units have not properly performed their responsibilities.

To solve this problem, there needs to be drastic involvement of functional agencies and local authorities. First of all, strengthening inspection and supervision of garbage collection points is necessary. Functional agencies need to coordinate with garbage collection units to strictly implement the waste treatment process in accordance with regulations, avoiding the situation of secretly burning garbage. At the same time, there needs to be strong sanctions against violating individuals and units, in order to prevent illegal garbage burning.

Local authorities also need to strengthen propaganda and raise people's awareness about environmental protection and the importance of treating waste in accordance with regulations. Building waste collection points in accordance with regulations, operating waste collection and treatment systems effectively will help reduce the situation of burning waste.

The situation of illegally burning domestic waste causing environmental pollution is currently becoming an alarming problem in many areas. Handling this problem requires efforts to coordinate between functional agencies, local authorities and people. Each individual needs to raise awareness and responsibility in environmental protection to build a community living in a cleaner and safer space together.
