HCMC - The National Highway 50 expansion project, the southern gateway of HCMC, with a total capital of VND1,500 billion, through Binh Chanh district has completed 100% of the site.

Towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the People's Committee of Binh Chanh District has made efforts to complete the task of mobilizing and handing over the entire site for the project to build and expand National Highway 50.

This project has a total land clearance scale of 264,307.7 m2, including the land area of 725 households and the land of 8 households belonging to enterprises allocated by Ho Chi Minh City.

All affected households have been supported, creating favorable conditions to quickly stabilize their new lives. The consensus and active cooperation of the people is a key factor in helping Binh Chanh reach the finish line on time, meeting the urgent progress requirements of the project.

"We respectfully thank the support, sharing and spirit for the community of the people. The people are willing to give the land for the common benefit of the sense of responsibility and sense of noble citizens because of the sustainable development of the district, the city and the whole country," the representative of Binh Chanh District People's Committee said.

According to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, if the site handover progress is completed in April 2025, the entire National Highway 50 route will be open to traffic by the end of 2025.

The National Highway 50 expansion project, the section passing through Binh Chanh district, has a total length of nearly 7 km, starting from the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh Avenue to the border of Long An province.

The project includes building more than 4 km of parallel roads and expanding the existing route to 34 m with 6 lanes to meet the increasing travel demand.

When put into operation, this route will not only help reduce traffic pressure at the southern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, but also enhance connectivity with Long An and the Western provinces.

At the same time, National Highway 50 will also connect with important traffic routes such as Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Ring Road 3 (under construction) and Nguyen Van Linh Avenue, contributing to the completion of regional traffic infrastructure.
