On February 16, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that the project to build and expand National Highway 50 through Binh Chanh District has not yet been handed over the entire site.
At the parallel road of National Highway 50, there are 4 cases of land clearance problems. A household in Gia Hoa residential area (compensated by Gia Hoa Housing Construction and Trading Private Enterprise) has demolished its house, but has not agreed to the construction because it has not received enough compensation.
Gia Hoa 3 Power Station has not been demolished because Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation has not agreed to demolish the station building, waiting for a decision to reclaim the land.
Two households in Phong Phu 4 residential area - Trinh Quang Nghi street (compensated by Khang Phuc Housing Investment and Business Company Limited) have not yet handed over the site because they have not agreed on a compensation plan.
At the existing National Highway 50 expansion section, a household subject to compensation according to the policy of the road project to Da Phuoc cemetery has not yet agreed to hand over the site.

According to the plan, the parallel road section of National Highway 50 will be completed and opened to traffic in 2024, the entire project is expected to be completed in 2025.
However, due to land clearance problems, the parallel section can only be opened to traffic for about 2 km (from near Trinh Quang Nghi intersection to the existing National Highway 50 access point), instead of the entire as originally planned.
To remove difficulties, the Project Management Board has requested the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the People's Committee of Binh Chanh District to continue to speed up site clearance and hand over the remaining area soon to ensure progress.
The National Highway 50 expansion project, the section passing through Binh Chanh district, has a total length of nearly 7 km, starting from the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh Avenue to the border of Long An province.
The project includes building more than 4 km of parallel roads and expanding the existing route to 34 m with 6 lanes to meet the increasing travel demand.
Up to now, the total construction volume of the project has reached about 65%, of which the newly built section parallel to National Highway 50 has reached about 85%, while the existing route expansion has only reached about 27%.
It is expected that the remaining parallel section will be opened to traffic on April 30, 2025 and the entire route will be completed by the end of 2025.
When put into operation, this route will not only help reduce traffic pressure at the southern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, but also enhance connectivity with Long An and the Western provinces.
At the same time, National Highway 50 will also connect with important traffic routes such as Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Ring Road 3 (under construction) and Nguyen Van Linh Avenue, contributing to the completion of regional traffic infrastructure.
