On July 29, Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee informed that the province had just issued a decision approving the appraisal results of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for Component Project 3 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Construction Investment Project phase 1.
According to the decision, the project is implemented in the communes of Ea O, Ea Ning, Ea Ktur, Vu Bon, Tan Tien, Krong Pac and Ea Knuech (Dak Lak province). The investor is responsible for fully implementing the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection and the environmental protection requirements stated in the approval decision.
Component project 3 has a total length of about 48.09 km, invested and built on a scale of 4 lanes, roadbed width of 17 m. The starting point is at Km69+500, connecting to Component Project 2 in Ea O commune; the ending point is at Km117+593.12, intersecting with Ho Chi Minh road bypassing East Buon Ma Thuot, in Ea Knuec commune.
Notably, this approval focuses on the content of adjusting the design to reinforce the left taluy slope of the Km70+535 - Km70+700 section. This item has a length of about 165 m, a width of 260 m, a maximum height of 141 m, and at the same time adds 23 waste disposal locations to serve the construction process.
According to the report, the reinforcement of the taluy will occupy about 3.38 hectares of land, of which about 2.43 hectares of production forest land originating from natural forests must be converted for other purposes. This is a factor that makes the project identified as having environmentally sensitive elements according to the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection.
According to the decision of the Provincial People's Committee, the investor is only allowed to implement the project after completing procedures on land, compensation, site clearance and land use purpose conversion according to regulations. At the same time, they are fully responsible for implementing environmental protection measures, ensuring that the project meets current standards throughout the construction and exploitation process.
