Thanh Hoa - Due to not meeting the conditions according to the new regulations, in the coming time, hundreds of 4-wheeled electric vehicles in Sam Son beach will have to stop operating.

On June 27, information from the People's Committee of Sam Son City, Thanh Hoa Province said that all 470 4-wheeled electric vehicles currently operating to transport tourists in the area will have to temporarily stop operation from July 1, 2025.

According to the People's Committee of Sam Son City, this is to implement the regulations of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa Province and newly issued decrees, including Decree 165/2024/ND-CP dated December 26, 2024 guiding the Road Law and Decree 158/2024/ND-CP dated December 18, 2024 on road transport activities, officially putting the 4-wheeled electric vehicle type for passenger transport into the legal framework from July 1, 2025.

According to regulations, four-wheeled motor vehicles are only allowed to operate on routes with a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h, applicable to all vehicles participating in traffic.

However, currently, all coastal and inner-city routes in Sam Son do not have signs regulating a maximum speed of 30 km/h. Therefore, 4-wheeled electric vehicles are required to stop carrying passengers.

Previously, the People's Committee of Sam Son City studied a separate lane division plan for electric vehicles and limited the maximum speed to 30 km/h. However, because most of the routes are very narrow, this option is not feasible.

Meanwhile, if signs are put on the main roads to reduce speed for electric vehicles to operate, it will lead to the risk of traffic congestion, negatively affecting socio-economic development and tourism service activities.

In the face of the above situation, the People's Committee of Sam Son City has compiled the opinions of transportation businesses and driver representatives to send to competent authorities for consideration and decision on appropriate solutions in the coming time.
