On the afternoon of February 12, Mr. Nguyen Van Dat - Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Hiep commune, Quang Tri province confirmed that a drowning incident had just occurred in the area, killing 2 children.
According to initial information, at about 12:30 pm on the same day, two children H.M.T and H.V.
D.D (both born in 2017, residing in Dong Dong village, Huong Hiep commune) and a group of friends went down to the Dakrong River, passing through Dong Dong village to swim.Unfortunately, the two children drowned.The group of friends discovered the incident and ran to shout for help, informing adults.However, when local people arrived, the two children had already sunk and disappeared.
After a period of searching, functional agencies in coordination with people found the bodies of two young children in the river.
Upon receiving the news that two local children drowned in the Dakrong River, leaders of Huong Hiep commune directly arrived at the scene to encourage, visit and direct the support for the families of the victims.
Mr. Ho Van Cu - Head of Dong Dong village said that the two young children who encountered the accident were both 3rd grade students, with difficult family circumstances.
